He was born in Transylvania County, NC, son of the late John Avery Reid and Mamie Reese Reid. Mr. Reid was a member of Gaston Masonic Lodge, 0263 in Dallas, NC and Scottish Rites. He was a US Army Veteran.
He is survived by: his sons and daughter in-law, Jerry and Linda Reid of Bessemer City, Bryan Reid of Cherryville; daughter and son in-law, Sharon and Chuck Fox of Raleigh; sister, Dorris Owen of Lake Toxaway; grandchildren and their spouses, Seth and Kolleen Fox, Carla and Vincent Barbour, David and Vonda Duncan, Jo Ann and Shannon Propst, Brett Reid; seven great grandchildren; faithful neighbors, Bob and Ursula Lutz, Lawrence and Rita Paysour.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his loving wife of 57 years, Nell Keaton Reid; brothers, Glenn, Bruce, John and Lee Reid; sister, Bernice Burton.
Graveside Service:Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Jerry Millwood.
