Our family records show Abel Shattuck was born in Nashua, Hillsboro, NH, however, the Shattuck Genealogy book has him born in Ashby, MA. Cause of death reported in Lowell newspaper: Liver complaint. He was a shoemaker, and first settled in new Ipswich, but in 1826 removed to Lowell, where he d. June 2, 1842. at 53 years, 11 mos 18 days. He was interred in the cemetery at Nashua, N.H. but in a family letter sent to his daughter, Mary Eleanor, she was told he was moved to the Lowell Cemetery. The photo of the grave attached to this site was taken in 1995 at Lowell Cemetery by Paula Macy Bruton. I also have a newspaper clipping from The Pennsylvania Gazette 8-4-1813 telling of Abel Shattuck's home in Hillsborough, NH being hit by a tornado on July 23, 1813.
