LONGTIME RESIDENT OF CITY DIES
Mrs. Martha Newton, 82, a resident of Shreveport for the past 60 years, died Saturday at 6 p.m. at her home, 6130 Southern Ave. after a long illness.
She was a native of Vienna, a member of the First Methodist Church of Shreveport, and a member of Victory Capter No. 130 of Eastern Star.
Survivors are three sons, Chester C. Semon, Shreveport; Arthur F. Semon, Rosenburg, Texas, and James M. Newton, Tyler, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Dechard, Franklin, Texas; and Mrs. B.A. Phillips, Shreveport; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Osborn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. D. L. Dykes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
Pallbearers are L.R. Semon, C.C. Semon, Jr., James Tippett, Paul Anderson, J.B. Hicks, James F. Semon, H.G. Semon and C.D. Prudhomme.
