She was raised and went to school and graduated in Lampasas. With only a couple times moving back to the Valley with her parents and again returning to Lampasas County. Marguerite enjoyed playing ball,for a couple years she was the catcher and her sister Gladys was the pitcher. Playing ball is how she lost one of her front teeth. Later years she went to business school to learn key punch.
She went to the movies one day and met a soldier John "Jack" Smith. He was transferred to Oklahoma and in a short time she followed and they married. She stayed there until he was shipped out during WWII. Marguerite moved to Pennsylvina where Jack's family lived. She lived a short time with his parents and got a job in town at the Campstore. Marguerite was able to find a room to rent closer to work so she moved and stayed there until Jack returned and daughter was a year old. Back to Texas.
Marguerite had five sisters and two brothers all but Wyvon were living at the time of her death. She worked at doing Key-punch for the VA, Borden's Milk, and Alstate Insurance. Marguerite had breast cancer that spread; she struggled with cancer for 10 years and died at the of age 43, 5 A.M. Saturday, October 26,1968 in Bellaire General Hospital.
She was a member of Braeburn Valley Baptist Church, in Houston, TX.
