Civil War Union Army Chaplain. He served during the Civil War as Chaplain of the 118th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (the "Corn Exchange" regiment). He was mustered in on August 30, 1862, and served until he resigned on December 24, 1862.

On March 15, 1887 he filed for a United States Army Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #601936, Certificate #470694).
