MRS. IRENE GOSSARD SCHILDTKNECHT, widow of Vernon Schildtknecht, 224 Summer Street, died at the Washington County Hospital Friday at 11:30 pm of complications after being ill 10 months. She was 73.


Born and reared in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of David and Margaret Watkins Gossard. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.


Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Julia Reese and Mrs. Edith Dowler of Hagerstown, Mrs. Maxine Rowland of Silver Spring; sons, Allen C., Rolland, Luther, Russell, Edward, Milton, Raymond and Freeman, all of Hagerstown; 39 grandchildren: and 19 great-grandchildren: sister, Mrs. Bessie Reynolds of Hagerstown; brothers, Fred and Finley Gossard, of Hagerstown.


The body was taken to the A. K. Coffman Funeral Home where services will be conducted Monday at 3:30 pm by the Rev. Paul B. Watlington. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
