She was born March 22, 1930 in Hyde Park, Utah. She was the daughter of Stephen James and Ethlyn Wood Thurston. She was the second of three children.
Lucinda graduated from North Cache High School and attended Utah State University.
She married Kay M. Nilson in the Logan Temple on August 3, 1949. They have six children, five sons and one daughter. They have lived in Utah, Wyoming, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Vermont, New York, California, and Arizona. She traveled worldwide with her husband. Her interests include family, people, reading, and traveling.
Kay and Lucinda served a mission locating and reactivating less active members while living in California. Because they lived most of their married life in the mission field they spent forty-plus years of dedicated service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Roma Gene Alder. She is survived by her husband, Kay; children, Michael (Thyra), Bryan (Resa), Bradley (Ginny), Alan (Sue), Rebecca McCabe (Ron), and Jon (Kathy); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Stephen W. Thurston; and brother-in-law, Conrad Alder.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the same location.
Interment will take place in the Hyde Park Cemetery.
