Charles Henry Wallace was the eldest son of James Wallace and Anna Foglesong. He became a manufacturing optician and went into business with his son, Bruce Lorriane Wallace. Charles maintained a laboratory and grinding plant in San Diego, California. Starting his career as a jeweler, he maintained both a jewelry and opticians operations in Holzwasser's Department Store for many years. Charles also served as City Treasurer for the City of Beaumont, California, while a resident there. He was an active member of his church and several fraternal organizations in San Diego.

He married Elgia Irene Fields on December 28, 1892, in St. Louis, Michigan. Together, they had one child, Bruce Lorriane Wallace, also a Doctor of Optometry and part of his father's business ventures.
