Beauford E. Gilbert died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Beauford was born July 25, 1922, in Frankfort, Michigan, the son of Ernst and Ethel Gilbert.
Beauford graduated from Frankfort (MI.) High School in 1941 and then joined the Army Air Force. He was stationed in McCook, Nebraska where he met and married Jean Gochis on May 24, 1945.
They moved to Jackson, Michigan for two years. They then moved back to McCook for the remainder of his life.
Beauford worked at the Olympia Cafe in McCook for his father-in-law, Alex Gochis, for many years. He also owned and operated the Bargain House.
In 1958, Beau and Jean purchased the Mode o Day Women's Apparel Store, which they operated until retiring in 1986.
After Jean's death in 1994, he married Marion Carter in 1996. Beau was preceded in death by Marion in 2011.
Beauford was preceded in death by: brothers and sisters.
Surviving Beauford are: son, Michael Gilbert and his wife, Janice, of McCook, Nebraska; daughter, Suzan Jean and her husband, Larry Weber, of Frankton, Colorado; three granddaughters, Natalie, Ashley and Alex and one great-granddaughter, Erin.
Inurnment was in St. Alban's Church Columbarium, McCook, Nebraska.
