Andrew Hill

Andrew Hill was born in Otttum-
wa, Iowa, July 25, 1853, and departed
this life February 24, 1923.
He grew to manhood in his Iowa
home. When he was nineteen years
old his parets moved to Belleville and
he came with them. This was in the
year 1871. On January 24, 1878, he
married Rosie Wilson, They estab-
lished themselves on their homestead
which has been their home ever
since.
There were two children born to
them. Roy passed away 27 years
ago. Chester is living with his family
in Belleville.
Last May Mr, Hill underwent an
operation for cancer on the limb.
The operation was not successful.
The disease broke out in other parts
of his body. During these long months
he put up a brave fight but lost.
Mr. Hill was always greatly inter-
ested in the county fair and never
failed to have an exhibit of stock
when he was able. He also took and
active part in the affairs of his
commuity and for a number of
years served on the school board of
his district. In spite of his handicap
of having one of his limbs amputated
years ago, he was a successful farmer
and stock raiser. He farmed until
a little over a year ago. He was al-
ways of an uncomplaining nature and
met his friends with a smile.
During his sickness his wife, al
though infirm in body, nursed and
cared for him as love alone knows
how.
Those that remain to mourn his
departure are his wife, Mrs. A. Hill,
his son Chester, and his family, three
brithers and one sister, Wm Hill
and Abraham H. Hill of Belleville;
Harve H. Hill of Douglas, Ariz. and
Mary Hill Patterson of Tacoma,
Wash. Funeral services took place
Sunday afternoon from the home,
conducted by Pastor Cutler. Burial
was made in the Belleville cemetery.
