Joseph T. Van Zon, Sr., 65, ship yard employe for 40 years and foreman of the plate shop for most of that time, died at 9 a.m. today at the Holy Family hospital. He suffered a stroke three days ago.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 o'clock from the Pfeffer funeral home and at 10 o?clock from Sacred Heart church with the Rev. Louis Schorn officiating. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Van Zon was born at Manitowoc Rapids Jan. 3, 1877 and lived in the county all of his life. On June 17, 1902 he married Miss Mathilda Simmer. Survivors are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Senglaub, city, and Miss Florence, at home; one son, Joseph W. Van Zon, Jr., city and five grandchildren.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart church and these two groups will recite the rosary at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from 7 p.m. Thursday to the time of the services.
