Bobby Warren McAlister, 75, of Boiling Springs, SC, died Saturday, September 17, 2005 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born December 9, 1929, in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Wilton K. and Florence (Wright) McAlister and husband of five years to Marlene (Seay) Taylor McAlister. He was first married to the late Jeanette (Bannister) McAlister.

He retired at the age of 55 as superintendent of Singer Manufacturing Co. in Anderson after 45 years of service. Mr. McAlister was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Joy Group and Bill Howell's co-ed Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Puzzle Pieces for Relay for Life and a member of the Boiling Springs High School Band Booster Club. He treasured his family, was an avid gardener, and loved to travel. Mr. McAlister was dearly loved by his family and friends and adoringly called "Papa" by his grands and even his friends. He received his degree while serving in the U.S. Navy and from the University of Georgia.

In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, David and his wife, Sharon McAlister, and one daughter, Janice Glisson; three step-daughters, Rhonda and her husband, Francis Norris, Kim and her husband, Jerry Parham, and Melinda and her husband, Scott Dotherow, all of Boiling Springs; one grandson, Andrew "Drew" Warren Glisson; and four step-grandchildren, Brittney and Lindsey Norris, Courtney Dotherow and Matthew Parham.

He was predeceased by a brother, Wilton McAlister, Jr., and one step-grandson, Taylor Dotherow.

Visitation was 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2005 at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Hank Williams, Pastor Paul K. Sheets, and the Rev. Jim Johnson.

Burial was at 3:30 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson, SC, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Johnny McKinney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to American Cancer Society, Puzzle Pieces for Relay for Life, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615; or to United Mitrochondrial Foundation, 8085 Saltsburg Road, Suite 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15239.
