NEW CANADA and FORT KENT – Normand W. Daigle, 83, died Sept. 24, 2013, and Gilmay Marie (Theriault) Daigle, 78, died Sept. 25, 2013. They passed away peacefully surrounded by their family at their residence. Norman was born June 22, 1930, in New Canada, the son of the late Willie and Flavie (Pelletier) Daigle.
Norman was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW Lozier O'Grady Post No. 9609, both of Fort Kent. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. One of his many favorite past times was wood working.
They are survived by ten children, Nelson and wife, Rita Daigle, of New Canada, Jeannine and husband, Dave Hobbins, of Fort Kent, Robert and wife, Cheryl Daigle, of New Canada, Eric and wife, Joni, of New Canada, Claude and Cheryl Daigle of Harwich, Mass., Ron Daigle and companion, Kristen, of Harwich, Mass., Donald and wife, Donna Daigle, of Hartford, James "Jim" Daigle of New Canada, John Daigle and wife, Nola, of New Canada, and Tammy and husband, Greg Paradis, of New Canada; their 22 grandchildren, Carolyn, Jill, Crystal, Daniel, Courtney, Stephanie, Pat-Rick, Ryan, Allison, Jennifer, Sara, Melanie, Heather, Michelle, Matthew, Jacob, Ashley, Sarah, Brooke, Alex, Paige, and Ava; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney, Natalie, Natashia, Nicole, Jarek, Josh, Cody, and Adaline.
Norman is survived by five brothers, Albert, Wilfred, Philip, Leo Paul, and Dr. Berthol Daigle; and two sisters, Bernadette Daigle, and Yvette Levesque.
He was predeceased by one son, Peter Daigle; one grandson, Adam Daigle; four brothers, Louis, Gilman, Edmund, and Leonard Daigle; and one sister, Rinette Lamarre.
Committal services with full military honors will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Soldier Pond. (Bangor Daily News 9/27/2013)
