Mrs. William Waggoner, 345 Portland Ave., passed away at her home Friday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock.

Mrs. Waggoner was born Amanda Leona Smith, June 2, 1898, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith of Long Lake. She was married to William Waggoner in this city in 1920, and they moved to West Allis to reside. In 1946, they moved back to Chippewa Falls and have since resided on Portland Ave. Mrs. Waggoner had been in poor health for the past ten years. She is survived by her husband, four children, Mrs. Robert Handt of this city; Carol, Marilyn and James at home. Two children preceded her in death, William, Jr. who was killed in action when his plane was shot down over Brandenburg, Germany, and Zella, who died in Milwaukee. Also surviving are her mother, three sisters, Mrs. Henry Reynders of West Allis; Mrs. Ruby Johnston, Long Lake; Mrs. Norbert Toetz of West Allis, and three brothers, William and Arvid of Long Lake, and David of Milwaukee.

The remains will lie in state at the Hogseth Funeral Home Sunday and Monday until funeral time. Services will take place Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the Hogseth Chapel with Rev. G.W. Finch, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.

In some sources, Leona indicates that her mother is William's wife, Daisy. However, William and Daisy were not wed until 1902, almost four years after Leona's birth. Leona may have a different mother.
