Benny Dockery, 75, of Murphy passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 in an Asheville VA medical center. He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County. Benny had served in the United States Marine Corps. Benny was a member of Little Glade Baptist Church, where he had served as a former Sunday School director and Vacation Bible School director. He was currently an adult Sunday School teacher. Benny was a founding member of the Martins Creek Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the board of directors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was a good Christian friend to all. Benny enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was the son of Maida Ramsey Dockery of Murphy and the late Arvil Dockery. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tony Reece.
Interment will be in Old Martins Creek Cemetery.
