Arthur DeForest was born near Susanville on the 18th day of May 1873, and was 40 years and 7 months old. His school days were passed in this vicinity, and when about 16 years of age he went to Indian Valley in Plumas county, where he has made his home since. During the intervening years he has frequently visited his brothers in Honey Lake valley and during the past year he has been in this section most of the time. About two weeks ago he was stricken with pneumonia and was cared for at the home of his brother, A. E. DeForest. Everything that was possible to be done was done to overcome the disease, but the struggle was a vain one.
