Arthur DeForest, youngest son of the late Clinton DeForest, who has been lying ill with pneumonia at the residence of his brother, A. E. DeForest, in Susanville, the past two weeks, died Thursday evening, December 18.
Arthur DeForest was born near Susanville on the 18th day of May 1873, and was 40 years and 7 months old. His school days were passed in this vicinity, and when about 16 years of age he went to Indian Valley in Plumas county, where he has made his home since. During the intervening years he has frequently visited his brothers in Honey Lake valley and during the past year he has been in this section most of the time. About two weeks ago he was stricken with pneumonia and was cared for at the home of his brother, A. E. DeForest. Everything that was possible to be done was done to overcome the disease, but the struggle was a vain one.
Deceased leaves a wife and three children, living in Indian valley, and three brothers, A. E. DeForest, G. E. DeForest and Clinton DeForest, are living in this community.
The funeral will take place from the M. E. church in Susanville Saturday, December 20, and interment will be in the Susanville Cemetery.
