Earl Eugene Stotler, Sr., age 68, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born August 7, 1945 in Magnolia, WV, he was the son of the late John William and Gusta Mae Shambaugh Stotler.

He was a Baptist. He attended public schools in Great Cacapon, WV and served with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Earl had worked as a truck driver in the construction industry. He was a member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60 in Berkeley Springs. Earl enjoyed bowling and regularly frequented the Berkeley Springs Bowlerama. He also liked pitching horseshoes and playing and coaching softball.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Bernice Mary Ash Stotler, at home, one son, Earl Eugene Stotler, Jr. and his wife Christina of Berkeley Springs, one sister, Thelma Frazer of Berkeley Springs, three brothers, James L. Stotler of Berkeley Springs, Donald C. Stotler of Great Cacapon and Roger W. Stotler of Hedgesville, WV, four grandchildren, Ciara Michele Shade of Hedgesville, Chelsea Dawn Kesecker, Christen Rene Kesecker and Caleb Richard Eugene Stotler, all of Berkeley Springs, three great grandchildren, Caylie Rae Shade and Noah Robert Shade, both of Hedgesville and Charlotte Sophia Bryan of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John William Stotler, Jr. and four sisters, Mabel Stinebaugh, Lorraine Hovermale, Betty Farris and Esther Willey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Pastor Dick Voorhaar officiating. Interment with graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
