Daughter of John and Jessie Paskvan Banich.
Married William E. Thoresen III, heir to the Great Western Steel fortune. He died June 10, 1970. Louise was charged with his murder, pleaded self-defense and was aquitted of his murder in November of 1970.

In 1974, she wrote a book about their life together: "It Gave Everybody Something to Do", with E.M. Nathanson.

Louise B. Thoresen, 66, of Canton, Ga., died Monday, March 24, 2003, in Gwinnett County, Ga.

She was born May 8, 1936, in Chicago, the daughter of John and Jessie Paskvan Banich.

She is survived by one son, Michael of Canton, Ga.' her mother of Murrayville; one sister, Johanna (husband, Henry) Jackson of Murrayville; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father; and an infant daughter.

Mrs. Thoresen was a graduate of Northern Illinois University and was an adult literacy instructor for Appalachian Technical College at the Cherokee Learning Center in Canton, Ga., where the March 27, 2002, GED graduation ceremony was dedicated in her honor. She loved to travel and she and her son attended the Vatican Midnight Mass this past Christmas and visited many churches and museums. She loved and enjoyed her family and friends.

Memorial services were held in Georgia. Burial of the ashes was held April 5, 2003, at St. Bartholomew Cemetery in Murrayville.
