Edina, Mo., Aug. 11. — Floyd Haines is a patient in the University hospital at Columbia, where he is recovering from surgery on a broken hip.

Floyd Haines, Retired Upholsterer, Died At His Home Here Friday

Floyd A. Haines, of Edina, a retired upholsterer and decorator, died at his home about 4:33 o'clock Friday morning, Aug. 21, 1964, after a long illness. He was 77 years old and had spent most of his life in Edina.

Funeral services were at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Kriegshauser Funeral Home here with the Rev. E. E. Hembree, pastor of the Edina Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial was in Linville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Esther, Mrs. Frank Hirner, Park Ridge, Ill.; George Haines, Chicago; Laura Lee, Mrs. Nelson Parrish, Crystal Lake, Ill., and Pat, Mrs. Alva Grant, Sandwich, Ill.; a brother, Artie Haines of Edina; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Snyder of Clarkston, Wash.; six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Haines was born in Edina June 16, 1887, a son of John William and Mary Elizabeth Patterson Haines. As a young man he went West when that part of the country was growing up. He worked in a silver mining town in New Mexico as a scout along the Snake River in Vancover, B. C., and also for the Northern-Pacific Railroad in Wyoming. Later he returned to Edina and worked for the Miller Wagon Company and learned upholstering and furniture refinishing, a trade he followed until ill health forced his retirement. He was married Aug. 3, 1912, to Sarah Ruth Stutsman of Edina and they were the parents of five children, the four mentioned and a daughter, Mary Elizabeth, who preceded him in death March 5, 1921. He and Mrs. Haines celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a celebration at their home Aug. 3, 1962.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
