Obit per Springfield Daily News, 03/30/1972, page 16:
"JOHN E. WALLACE John E. Wallace, 57, of 3556 Ridge Road, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Dayton following three weeks of failing health.
He was born in Springfield, Dec. 5, 1914, and had resided here most of his life. He had been engaged as a dairyman for the Shaw Farm for the past nine years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Urbana, DAV, and served with U. S. Army Engineers during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie L. Flanigan Wallace; one son"..."one daughter"..."four brothers, Robert of Fredericksburg, Va., Ted of Folson, Calif., Charles and Harold of Springfield; two grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
His body was taken to the Conroy Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Services will be held at time to be announced Saturday in the funeral home.
Burial in Soldier's Mound, Calvary Cemetery."
