Funeral services for Edgar Kemp, 59, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at New Day's Community Church with Pastor Rickey Green and the Rev. Reginald Garrett Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors.
Mr. Kemp died Sept. 13, 2013, in Dallas.
He was born June 16, 1954, in Tishomingo, Okla., and had resided in Tyler 35 years. He was a graduate of Milburn High School and Okmulgee Technical College in Okmulgee, Okla. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Douglasville and worked at Trane. He hosted a quarterly ministry school and was a member of International Ministry, Ghana Africa. He volunteered at the Juvenile Attention Center. He loved working and refurbishing cars, trucks and motorcycles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Kemp.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Clark-Kemp; son, Brandon Kemp; mother, Geneva Kemp; brothers, Charlie Kemp, Carl Kemp and Willard Kemp; sisters, JoAnn Boylan, Regina Hawkins, Cherry Coats, Alliene Alexander, Kathryn Kemp, Mary Lee Kemp-Richardson and Rosie Lee Picklens; and grandchildren, Kymiah Nicole Kemp and Isisah Charles Kemp.
Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
