Businesswoman, Charity Worker

Harriet (Benson) ABRAMSON, a real estate broker, co-owner of a sales agency and treasurer of Silver Lake Dodge and Silver Lake Leasing of Wellesley, died of cancer of the colon and liver yesterday at her home in Newton Centre. She was 57.

With a partner she owned B & H Associates of Newton, northeast representatives for makers of children's clothing and leather goods and jewelry for adults.

Among her numerous civic and charitable activities, Mrs. ABRAMSON was a member of the Friends of Rose Art Museum, Friends of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and was involved in efforts to aid heart research, cancer research and research on cerebral palsy. She served as so-chairwoman of fund-raising events for the Kidney Foundation, the Foresight Foundation and for University Hospital.

As program chairwoman for Spring Valley Country Club of Canton and for the New England Dodge Advertising Association, she organized all social events at the club for many years and was in charge of the association's past two New Year's Eve celebrations.

Born in Brookline, Mrs. ABRAMSON moved in infancy with her family to Newton. She graduated from Thayer Academy, Braintree, in 1949 and from Mount Ida College, Newton, in 1951.

She was an accomplished gourmet cook and a skilled amateur artist and craftswoman. She was a member of Temple Beth Avodah, Newton.

Mrs. ABRAMSON leaves her husband, Herbert A.; a son, Warren B., of Randolph; a daughter, Diane L. of Newton Centre; a sister, Arlene RUBIN of Weston; a step-sister, Harriet FRIEDMAN of Worcester; her step-father, Harry CORBIN of Worcester, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in Stanetsky Memorial Chapels, Brookline. Burial will be Sharon Memorial Park.
