He was born January 27, 1929, in Houston, a son of Oscar and Rhoda Fike Frantz.
Mr. Frantz had worked for Cooper Power Systems in Canonsburg for 47 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Canonsburg.
Mr. Frantz was the commodore and a member of Jessop Boat Club in Carmichaels. He also enjoyed golfing.
On April 24, 1948, he married June Simpson, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dennis R. Frantz and his wife, Carol of Spring, Texas; a daughter, Judith L. Taubenheim and her husband, Michael of Rocky Mount, Va.; a granddaughter, Marci Kuhn and her husband, John of Wheeling, W.Va.; two great-grandchildren, Kira and Kaden Kuhn; and three sisters, Wilda Putrin and June Holsey of Strabane and Lois Strimel of Houston.
Deceased are two brothers, Bernard and Arnold Frantz; and a sister, Lona Lawther.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 8, with the Rev. Arthur Mace officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
