Susan George, nee Metroyanis, age 87, of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 surrounded by her family.
She was born February 16, 1925 in Gary, Indiana to her parents, the late Mary and Theodore Metroyanis.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Aristide Nick George; sister, Angeline Thiakos and brother, George Metroyanis.
Susan is survived by her sister, Frieda Nicholas of Fort Myers, FL; brother-in-law, George Thiakos of Merrillville; nieces and nephews: Doris Jose Pina, Sonia Irracleanos, Patty Nick Coveris, Tom Metroyanis, Irene Don Cheek, Tom Thiakos, Frank Terry Metroyanis and George Beth Nicholas; dear friend, Luise Trathen.
Susan was a graduated of Froebel High School and retired from U. S. Steel in the accounting department as a cost analyst for 30 years. She was a member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the St. Helen's Philoptochos Society and senior citizens, a former member of the church choir and the Daughters of Penelope.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Merrillville, with Reverend Theodore Poteres, officiating. Burial to follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Gary.
Friends may visit with the family, Monday, December 10, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services, Merrillville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in memory of Susan George.
