CORINTH – Mitchell Edward Mathis, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at his residence. He was born July 4, 1939, to Thomas Owen and Ozader Ayers Mathis. He attended Shiloh Methodist Church. He moved mobile homes and he was a logger.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff "Buddy" Mathis (Barbara) of Pocahontas, Tenn., and Clint Briggs of the home; one sister, Loveney Crow of Kossuth; one brother, Arlin Mathis (Glenda) of Ripley; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Bernice Dunn; and two brothers, Thomas Lee Mathis and Danny Ray Mathis.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Ripley Funeral Home.
