Donna Rose Bock of La Mesa, California, died September 28, 2011 at age 81. She was born on July 20, 1930 in Berea, Ohio the daughter of Herbert J. and Zella A. Burmeister. Surviving was her husband, Norm.

The Burmeister family lived in Strongsville, Ohio at 2067 W. 103rd Street while Donna attended Cleveland's West Technical High School, graduating in 1948. She went to work at Ohio Bell as a typist in the reproduction department and there she met her future husband Norwood William "Norm" BOCK Jr., who ran a printing press in the same department.
During the Korean War, Norm was drafted into the US Army, and he and Donna married on December 26, 1951 before he was deployed. Donna continued to work for the phone company while he was in South Korea. When he returned, they lived for 6-8 months at Florence's home in Valley View, then bought and moved into their home at 372 Turney Road in Bedford, Ohio in 1954. In 1967 the family moved from Ohio to 6736 Alamo Way in La Mesa, CA. Being a homemaker and mother were always top priorities to Donna, but as her four children became older and independent, she returned to work at Cotton Ritchie Corporation as an executive secretary. Later she worked at San Diego State University as executive assistant to the campus Chief of Police.
Donna was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and for many years, was a member of Rolando United Methodist Church Women's group. She and Norm helped in the church kitchen after Sunday services and enjoyed socializing there, walking in the neighborhood or at Lake Murray Reservoir, and camping with the San Diego Padres RV Club.
She avidly read historical non-fiction and articles in books and magazines dealing with the fine arts. Donna was continuously experimenting in the kitchen with new healthy and delicious dishes which she enjoyed serving at family get-togethers. A favorite pastime was keeping in regular touch with family; her sister Dorothy by telephone every weekend and with all of her children at least once a week via phone or in person. Survived by sister Dorothy and sister-in-law, Ferol May of Valley View, Ohio; she was preceded in death by two older brothers, Herbert Burmeister and Robert Burmeister of Cleveland, Ohio.
