William Kaufmann passed away at
his home two miles south of Frank-
fort, Kansas on December 5, 1902
at 10:00 a.m. He was 68 years, 8
months and 22 days of age.
Mr. Kaufmann had been in failing
health for a long time, suffering from
kidney and stomach trouble.
He was born on April 27, 1835 in
Northampton county, Pennsylvania.
He was married to Sabina Root on
November 15, 1853. To this union
was born five children, all of whom
preceded him in death. His wife
passed away in 1862.
He was then married to Sarah E.
Wolfe in 1864. To this union was
born seven children, all of whom
survive him, Mrs. Jennie Weaver,
Mrs. Clara Sylvester, Mrs. Elsey
Arolend, Miss Martha Kaufmann,
William Kaufmann, Charles Kauf-
mann and Olvier Kaufmann.
Mr. Kaufmann moved to Kansas in
1879 and settled on the farm on
which he resided at his death.
Funeral services were held at the
Presbyterian church with Reverend
R.A. Smith officiating on Sunday
afternoon.
