Caroline was born in Sigmaringen, Hohenzollern, Germany. She and her parents, Franz & Rosa Gratwohl came to the United States about 1850. She married Andrew John Miller about 1851. They lived in Richmond, VA. and raised the following children: Katharina (Adolph Trost), Minnie (Jacob Galster), Caroline (Carl Trautman), Mary(Marie)(William Haberle & George Washington Kavanaugh) all born in Richmond. They moved to Syracuse approximately 1865 and had Amelia (Albert E. Matthews) and Andrew John Miller Jr (Agnes Frances Burns).
