Ernest Monroe Durham, 72 of 1408 Monroe, Johnston City died Monday at 7:50 pm at Rt. 1, Marion. He was a retired miner and member of the UMWA and was a veteran of World War II. He was born in Johnston City August 31, 1906 to John and Clemma Peterson Durham. He married Lydia Scharrard and she survives. Other survivors includes one sister, Lois Lamb of Marion.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home in Herrin with Walter Joplin officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery.
