Billie Johnson, 91, of Grapevine, Texas passed away September 14, 2013. She was born September 8, 1922 in Dallas, Texas to parents, James Briggs Hughes and Verna Lee Willis Hughes.

She graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in Dallas in 1939. At the end of WWII she married Lt. Samuel Maurice Johnson December 22, 1945 and for a time they made their home in Grand Prairie. She was a long-time member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Sam preceded her in death on November 26, 1983.

She attended North Texas Agricultural College, now UT Arlington and North Texas State College, Denton. She later attended the University of Dallas where she completed a degree in education. For the next 26 years she was a fifth grade teacher at a Elementary School.

Survived by three children, six grand children and five great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers Kenneth, Aldon and Alvin.
