Vivian Gertrude was the only daughter of Charles Mitchell and Sallie Gattis Burgin. She married Oscar Wiley Patterson, Sr. on Christmas Eve 1921 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. A deeply religious lady, she passed away from a probable myocardial infarction while attending a church service.
