Funeral Services Held for Parowan Resident
Funeral services were held in the Parowan West ward chapel Sunday for William Francis Whitney, 72, who for years served as a blacksmith at the county seat. Mr Whitney died Friday at his home following a long illness.
He was born in Parowan on August 17, 1876, a son of New S and Sarah Gurr Whitney, and spent his entire life there. He worked as a blacksmith until a few years ago when poor health forced his retirement.
Mr Whitney married Dena Dalton in Parowan on October 15, 1903. She died ten years ago.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter, Marion Whitney, San Francisco; Clair Whitney, Orem; Edward Whitey, Salt Lake City; Frank Whitney, Parowan, and Mrs Ardeth Richardson, Las Vegas, Nevada; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs Mable Hanks, Salt Lake City; Samuel J Whitney, Mrs Eva Bennett, Mrs Minnie Lowder and Mrs Bertha Mitchell, all of Parowan.
