Betty J. Borders "Granny", 89, a lifelong Rush County resident passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Somerset, KY.

Betty was born in Rush County on June 29, 1924 to the late Virgil L. and Mildred Lavonne (Newman) Myers. Betty married Harrell R. "Ham" Borders on June 28, 1969 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2003.

She worked at Schnadig Corp. for several years and was a former member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville.

She leaves behind a son, David Goodpaster and wife Kathy of Somerset, KY, a daughter Donna and husband Jim Harlan of La Palma, CA, two sisters Mary Hensley of Connersville, IN and Janet Auresto of Connecticut, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Harrell, Betty was preceded in death by one son William "Bud" Whittaker and her best friend Mary Kate her dog.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. John Wall will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 5-7 PM Tuesday evening at the mortuary. Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
