Mrs. Acosta was born May 13, 1939 to Pat and Minnie Stokes. She married her teenage boyfriend, Pete V. Acosta. They shared a special life together with five kids; twenty grandkids; and forty-two great-grandkids. Mary and Pete were married 58 years. Mrs. Acosta loved to be with her family, where she shared a very special bond with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Minnie Stokes; a brother, John Stokes; and a sister-in-law and best friend, Mary A. Stokes.
Survivors include a brother, Pat Stokes and a sister, Amelia Loza, both of Abilene, Texas; five kids (one was taken to be with the Lord), Amelia Rocha (Arthur), Paula Flores (Joseph), Pete S. Acosta, Minnie Espinoza (Ricky), and Marie Leal (Roger), all of Abilene.
Mary will be missed so much. She always had a smile and always had something nice to say. Mary loved her spouse so much that she fought till the end; she did not want to leave him. Our Mother always presented unconditional love to each of her children. We know now that Mary is in a better place.
The family will be at 817 Lexington Avenue, Abilene.
