Son of Charles A Gray 1811-1853 and Hepzibah P Huff 1820-1888. He married Anna Eudora Newmarch 1850-1902 and had four children. At the age of 14 he sailed aboard the ship SS Moses Taylor out of Wiscassett Maine. He was a Sailor and later a Street Car Conductor for the Boston Elevated. He went to California in the late 1850s and is listed in the 1860 census as living in Saucelito Twp, Marin Co.
He retired at 80 and spent his latter years with his daughter Edna on the farm in Richmond, Sagadahoc Co. ME. He is buried at Knollwood Cemetery aka Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton Mass Bradford Plot #84 Section B-12 his name is not on the stone. He Lived at 33 1/2 Tabor St. Roxbury . The Boston Directory of 1895-1900 first lists him as a clerk in 1895 working at 650 Shawmut Ave. and in 1900 as a Conductor, listing him as living at 33 1/2 Tabor St. Roxbury.
