Michael Mehr (Mike) was the youngest child of Jacob Mehr and his first wife, Katie. In the early 1900s, Mike and his older brothers Charles (Carl) and John went north to Canada to assist their aunt Catharina and her husband Michael Schmitt in building the first hotel in Muenster, Saskatchewan. John returned to the States, but Carl and Mike both married and raised families in Saskatchewan.
In 1909, Mike married Frances Dekan, and the two had five children (Catherine, Eleanore, Arnold, Lawrence and Joseph). Catherine and Joseph died in infancy.
Mike died in 1957.
