Family tradition holds that Francis married Elizabeth Kennon. (Colonial Families of the Southern States of America: A History and Genealogy, Stella Pickett Hardy, page 543.)

Francis was a vestryman of Petsworth Parish from 1710 to 1728. In 1726 he became a church warden.

He purchased about 3000 acres of land in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.

Francis' son Francis wrote a letter dated May 19, 1732, mentioning his father's death.
