CSA PVT.NC 58TH REG.LEVI FRANKLIN JARRETT b:11-14-1830, d:11-08-1863 unk location. Levi is the son of John F.Jarrett & Elizabeth Hildebrand, buried at the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

1850 NC Census, Yancey Co.NC twp p 430B,659/694:Isabel,28 years old, white female, born in NC.

1860 NC Census, Yancey CO. Ledgers Twp,p. 399b,402/402: Isabel, 36 years old, white female,born in NC.

1870 NC Census,Mitchell Co. Red Hill Twp.p 365a,16/16 Ibby Jarrett 47 years old, white female, born NC, occupation, Keeping House.

1880 Nc Census, Mitchell CO. Bakersville,p 7b 113/116. Isabella 59 yars old, white female, born NC parents born NC. relationship mother.

The 1890 Census was destroyed by fire in 1933.

1900 Nc Census, Mitchell Co. Snowcreek Twp.p 48 72/76. Isabelle Jarrette, 77 years old, white female, born NC, widowed, relationship mother-in-Law,born July 1822, 5 children born ,4 children living.
Location of burial; Lilly Branch Missionary Baptist Chruch Cemetery.

1861-1865 Vol XIV Infantry, 57th 58th 60th 61st regiments. The Book list the following. Page 297.

Levi Jarrett born in Lincoln County and resided in Mitchell County or Yancey County was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Mitchell County at age 32 May 17, 1862 for the war. Reported absent on sick furlough on Nov. 19,1862. Reported absent sick through 06-30-1863. It is supposed he was at the battle of Chickamauga on Oct. 20 1863. Reported in hospital at Chickamauga, Ga. Oct.30 1863. Died in hospital at Atlanta, Georgia, November 8, 1863, of Disease."

Through enquires: James Ogden III, Historial at Chickamauga and Chattanooga national Military Park states:
Levi Jarrett is most like buried at Oakland cemetery in Atlanta.'Ga. Confederate State Roster, North Carolina state roster page 332 list Levi as being in the North Carolina CSA 58th Inf.Co B.
Isabell didn't know Levi had died until about 1901 when she was able to locate a Dr. John Stinchcomb Vol 2, ( I can't find documentation), who claimed to have witnessed Levi Jarrett's death and burial at a Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. Isabell did receive a pension.(Isabell's X was her signature on the Pension request.) Isabell never remarried and lived with her son Larkin Jarrett. The old house, now torn down, was located approximately 75 yards across the road from Paul Fortner's store. Paul Fortner's store location is approximately a quater mile down the highway from the Lilly Branch chruch. The location of Isabell residence at her son Larkin Jarrett's home was suppplied by Nina Silver Turbyfill G/Granddaughter of Levi & Isabell in 2005. Nina Silver is the G/Grand daughter of Levi and Isabell Green Jarrett.

Before the Civil war Isabell and Levi lived at Bear Creek Community near both parents.

Levi Franklin Jarrett and Isabell G. Jarrett had the following children prior to Levi joining the CSA:

(1) John J.Jarrett b:08-16-1860 d:05-19-1930 m Cynthia Jane Howell,buried at Silver Chapel cemetery, Bandana community.
(2) Samuel Milton Jarrett m Elizabeth Jane Sparks daughter of Samuel B Sparks & Nancy Stewart;
(3)Sara Jane Jarrett b:1854
(4) Nancy Elizabeth Jarrett b:1854 m John Silver;
(5) Larkin Berry Jarrett b:1857 m Laura Fortner.

Gravesite Details

The archive paper work on Isabell have different last name spelling of the first and last name. (Isabella) and (Greene). Isabell couldn't write and signed her name with an X. The spelling of the names was at the descression of the court clerk.
