Mrs. Reka Baade, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nordmeyer, was born in Oldenburg, Germany on March 3, 1869. In her infancy, her parents brought her to the arms of Jesus in baptism. In this sacred act, she was adopted by God as His child.
Being a child of a Christian home, she was educated in the principles of the Christian faith and conduct, and confessed her faith publicly on the day of confirmation.
At the age of 18 years, she immigrated into the U.S.A. and first settled at Wellsburg, in Grundy County, Iowa.
In the year 1891, she was married to Fred Baade at Wellsburg. This union was blessed with five children.
During the year of 1894, this young couple moved to Kossuth County where they farmed in German township.
It pleased the Lord to take her husband from her side by death in the year 1930, and the following year she moved to Titonka where she resided the remainder of her life.
As a whole, Mrs. Baade enjoyed good health during her long life. In her declining years, her children stood by her side and on January 4, she suddenly passed from this world into eternity at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 29 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure three sons: Fred Baade, Jr., Dick Baade and Wm. Baade; one daughter, Mrs Sophie Hanson; also 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.
