Frances was 9th child of Jacob Klapperich, a German immigrant, and Anna Lenz, a Bohemian immigrant. Her family lived in Fond du Lac Wisconsin, but moved to Mitchell County, Iowa, where Frances was born. They moved to homestead the Dakota Territory and Frances married Anatole Louis "Ben" LaBrie in 1902 at Turton, South Dakota. They had 6 children. She was widowed in 1928 but continued farming until 1946, then moved into the town of Turton. She lived till age 82.
