Son of William and Mary Adams Adams. Married Katherine "Kittie" Thornton in 1817 in Henry County, Kentucky. Kittie died in 1845 in Henry County, Kentucky.

After Kittie died James married Susan Kerlin, they had a son Joseph W. Adams born 20 SEP 1852--also not linked below.

DIED.
JAMES ADAMS, in his eightieth year, of Monroe county, a member of the Presbyterian Church of Shelbina, on the 11th of April 1874.
Father Adams moved from Kentucky to Monroe county, Missouri in the year 1864. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church about fifty years, and died in sure and certain hope of glorious resurrection unto eternal life.
