MICHAEL S.
Age 85, of Liberty, on Monday, December 27, 2004, in UPMC - McKeesport Hospital. He was born February 15, 1919 in McKeesport and was the son of the late James and Mary Levitsky Benedek; husband of the late Mary Toth Benedict, who died August 26, 2001. Michael was a member of St. Mark's Parish where he was a CCD Teacher and also belonged to the Holy Name Society and Ushers Club there. he was also a member of Local #31 Plasterers Union, White Oak American Legion, The William Penn Association, McKeesport Elks and the Hungarian Social Club. He was a life member of the Duquesne VFW Post #188 and was a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus Council #955 McKeesport. Michael was a retired Plasterer and was a Master Sergeant in the Army during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star. He is survived by sons, Michael A. (Kathleen) Benedict of Valencia, James J. (Carole) Benedict of Washington, Stephen J. (Louise) Benedict of North Canton, OH, Eugene A. (Gloria) Benedict of McKeesport; brother Stephen Benedek of McKeesport; sister Julia Makrancy of Trenton, NJ; also 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Friends are welcome Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Township. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark's Parish, Liberty, on Friday, December 31, 2004, 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Mausoleum, Elizabeth Twp.
