Isaac McPherson Sr. died intestate in DeKalb County, Alabama sometime in the year 1858. His son George W. McPherson was appointed administrator of his estate. On Dec. 15, 1858, George W. McPherson filed a petition to sell the land owned by Isaac Sr., so a proper division of monies collected from the sale could be distributed among the heirs of Isaac. The heirs listed were: Cely Norman, wife of Bennett Norman whose residence is unknown; Enos McPherson who resides in Stone County, Missouri, Lewis McPherson who is dead but whose children reside in said county and state and whose names are, Mary Busby, wife of Sebert Busby, Martha Patterson wife of Samuel Patterson, Adaline Busby, wife of Jackson Busby, William McPherson and Joseph McPherson, minors under the age of twenty-one years, and who have no legal guardian. William McPherson who resides in Pontotoc County, Mississippi, G. W. McPherson Administrator who resides in DeKalb County, Alabama, Isaac McPherson who resides in Dade County, Georgia, Jenny Willis wife of W. F. Willis who resides in DeKalb County Alabama, Polly Taylor wife of James Taylor who resides in Pontotoc County, Mississippi and Joseph McPherson who resides in Marion County, Tennessee.

On the eleventh day of March 1859 at the Court House in the office of Judge B. (unreadable), in the County of DeKalb, Alabama under and by vesture of the commission issued out of the Probate Court of said County in a certain cause, therein depending wherein George McPherson as administrator of the Estate of Isaac McPherson deceased, plaintiff and the heirs at law of Isaac McPherson are defendants.

Edward N. Taylor a witness sworn and examined on the part of the plaintiffs, doth depose and says as follows. To the first interrogatory he saith - I am acquainted with the land set out and described in this interrogatory and the lands claimed and owned by Isaac McPherson, deceased.

To the 2nd interrogatory he said: I am acquainted with the heirs of Isaac McPherson deceased: to wit: Mary Busby, wife of Sebert Busby, Martha Patterson wife of Samuel Patterson, Adeline Busby, wife of Andrew Busby, Jenny Willis, wife of William F. Willis, William McPherson, Joseph McPherson who reside in DeKalb County, Alabama, all of whom are of full age except William & Joseph McPherson. Enos McPherson of full age who lives in Mississippi, Mary Taylor, wife of James Taylor of full age who lives in Mississippi, Isaac McPherson of full age who lives in Tennessee, Joseph McPherson of full age who lives in DeKalb County, Alabama and that they and they alone are the heirs at law of Isaac McPherson, deceased.

(Mr. Taylor does not mention the fact that Mary Busby, Martha Patterson, Adelaine Busby, William and Joseph McPherson are the children of Lewis McPherson, deceased, but this is set forth in the petition to sell the land, as given above).

(As far as I know, Isaac McPherson Jr., was never in Dade County, Georgia. I wonder if the transcriber misunderstood where Isaac lived. At the time of this settlement, Isaac Jr. was living in Jasper County, Missouri which was not very far from Dade County, Missouri).

As transcribed by Kathleen Hopkins from estate papers sent to her by Rosa McPherson Crow. Rosa in turn was sent these papers by Mr. Paul R. White of Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. White is a descendant of Martha Paralee McPherson, daughter of George Washington McPherson, son of Isaac McPherson and wife Mary.
