Sarah Virginia "Ginny" Reese, 88, of Ripley, passed away Friday afternoon, September 6, 2013, at Eldercare of Ripley, following an extended illness.
She was born November 20, 1924, in Kanawha County, daughter of the late Ernest and Dessie Parrish Burdette. A lifelong homemaker, Ginny was an accomplished quilter and active with the Ripley Senior Citizen's Center prior to her failing health. A Christian by faith, she was a regular attendee at area churches, especially the Ripley Tabernacle and Grace Gospel Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Corbet Reese; a son, Thomas Leroy Reese; and eight brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving sibling in her family.

Surviving are sons, Jerry and Michael Reese of Ripley; daughters, Sharon White and Pam Yearego, both of Ripley; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating the life of Ginny Reese will be 5 p.m., Sunday, September 8, at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Ripley with Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m., Monday, September 9, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
