She was born on November 3, 1912 to the parentage of Sam and Mury Bircher in Winona, Texas. Costello began her religious education at the Water Bluff C. M. E. Church in Winona.
The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas and she attended the public schools of Fort worth and was a 1930 graduate of Historic I.M. Terrell High School.
Costello met and married Norris Zachary on September 12, 1930.
To this union was born a daughter,Alice Evelyn Zachary.
She was a faithful member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church for fifty-six years. She was an active participant in many organizations namely, The United Methodist Women, the Esther Group and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir for fifty-six years. She also shared her energy and skills in the Grandmothers Club at Bethlehem Center, AARP Group, and the Florence Brook Literary and Art Club. She was a former member of the Southside C.M.E. Church, now know as Carter Metropolitan C.M.E. Church and was a member of the southeast Neighborhood Association.
Costello was always a caring and very independent person.
She was preceded in death by ten siblings, her husband, Norris Zachary in 1981 and her grandson, Michael Wayne Lattimer in 1991.
She leaves to celebrate her memory and celebrate her homegoing a daughter, Alice Zachary Grays; nieces, Patricia Phillips of Fort Worth and Evelyn Bircher Gray of Duncanville. Other nieces, nephews and other relatives, to numerous to name.
