Ragnhild Niehaus Krogstad, was born
Aug 23, 1897, at rural Madison, S.D. He
was baptized Sept 26, 1897, at Madison.
He was later confirmed on Sept. 22, 1912.
His early years were spent on the farm
in South Dakota. Later he was inducted
in the U S Army during World War II,
receiving his honorable discharge Jan.
15, 1943. He then came to Iowa to farm
with his brother, Ine.
He married Wilma Witzke Lane. They
farmed for 35 years in Newell Township,
Buena Vista County. Then upon retirement,
they moved into Newell in
January 1981 following seven years of
retired life on the farm, 1974-1981. They
were members of St. Peter Lutheran
Church, Newell.
Preceding him In death were Ms
parents; two sons, Howard Lane and
James Lane; one brother, Adolf; three
sisters. Ruby, Alice and Stella.
