Her mother's obituary from page 1 of the March 6, 1890 issue of THE WASHINGTON COUNTY LEADER (copied from THE LEBANON ENTERPRISE, says that her mother was a native of County Galway, Ireland and died at Mrs. Joyce's home in Louisville.

Adelia's family came to Lebanon, Kentucky from Ireland in 1850 and her father died soon after. Adelia was a one of eight children. The three children who survived their 86 year old mother were: Thomas Mackin, Jr., of Lebnon; Mrs. John Buckman, of Washington County; and Rev. W. P. Mackin, O.P., of Washington County.
