Talmage was born May 1, 1935 in Wilson, North Carolina, son of Robert Thomas and Martha Cogdell Fly. He lived most of his life in Portsmouth, Virginia where he graduated from Wilson High School.
He served in the United States Army and apprenticed with the Norfolk Naval Ship Yard where he honorably retired in 1990 with 35 years of service.
Talmage is a member of the Church of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served faithfully.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Roseleen Tilley Fly; children, Fabriena (Greg) Robertson, Lewis (Jennifer) Fly Jr, Stephanie (Mark) Dignard and Melinda (David) Adams; grandchildren, Miranda (Rob) Dudley, Schylar, Shelby, Riley, Andrew, Madelyn, Camryn, Morgan, Cole, Jordan and Rachel; a brother, Aulsa (Jean) Fly; a sister Charlotte Zicafoose; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends July 19, 2010 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the LDS church located at 1115 Cherokee Rd. Portsmouth, Virginia. A funeral will be held July 20, 2010, 9:30 a.m. at the same location. A private Interment will be at the Albert G. Horton Veteran Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked, that memorial donations be made to a charity of choice.
