Husband of Catherine Swartz. Father of William Legge, Frederick Legge, Charles Henry Legge, Mary Legge, Emma Legge and George Legge. Enlisted in the Union Army in the Civil War on December 13, 1862 - Company A, 8th Michigan Cavalry. Was captured by the Confederate States Army on August 3, 1864, during Stoneman's Raid to Macon and spent time in Andersonville Prison as a prisoner of war. He was paroled and discharged on June 21, 1865.
