HAMPTON - Charles "Jim" Edward Marshall Sr., 71, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2005. He was a native of Waynesboro, Va., and a resident of Hampton for the past 53 years. Jim enjoyed listening to and playing country music and he loved reading his Bible. Mr. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alene Marshall. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Christine Marshall; one son, Charles E. Marshall Jr. of Hampton, and stepson, Eugene Baker and wife, Bonnie, of Yorktown; three daughters, Diana Hall and husband, Edward, of Virginia Beach, Elaine Thomas and husband, Robert, of Hampton, Lee Ann Stanford and husband, David Lee, of Charles City County, and stepdaughter, Louise Hyatt of Yorktown; four grandchildren, Patricia Rackley and husband, Justin, of Hampton, Keith Thomas and wife, Jamie, of Hampton, Jennifer Grams of Newport News and Jacob Baker of Yorktown; four great-grandchildren, Briana, Erica, Ryan and Jonathan; also one brother, Frank Marshall of Hampton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. There will be a life celebration service conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with the burial to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are encouraged to visit www.mem.com to share their condolences. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
